Arne Sorensen Obituary

In Loving Memory

SORENSEN, Arne

1943-2022

Arne was true to his character, strong and unpredictable until the end. He passed away peacefully at the Golden Manor in Timmins, Ontario on Wednesday, September 28, 2022 at the age of 78.

Arne was known to us as physically strong, helpful to others, kind and supportive (yet stubborn in some situations) and enjoyed having his routines. His loved ones will continue to honour his legacy by living life through his love of curiosity and learning.

Arne was predeceased by his loving parents Oda in 2022 and Carl in 1988. Survived by his son, Ian (Carolle) Sorensen and daughter, Lisa (Shawn) Bryce and his beloved grandchildren Cambria Bryce, Carrsen Bryce, Kalleah Bryce, Maxime Sorensen, his cousin Jette (late Gord) Helm and family from Denmark with special connections to Carsten Bech Nielsen and Lola (Heine) Bech Frederiksen.

Arne was born an only child on October 11, 1943 in Aalborg, Denmark into a hardworking family. He began his journey at the age of 13 in 1957 by leaving Denmark and immigrating to Canada. He was a Mechanic Tradesman before becoming involved in the family business at Carl's Masonry Supplies in 1975. After that chapter closed, he drove transport for various companies.

Prior to entering the manor, he would either be found at his workshop enjoying building or mechanical repairs, listening to country music, fishing, or reading. He enjoyed his coffee with cigarettes and playing cards and darts.

The family wishes to thank the Golden Manor staff. In particular, the amazing nurses and support workers for their love, care, and compassion. We really can’t say enough about how wonderful they were to him and how much he enjoyed his time at the Golden Manor.

A private celebration of life will be held at a later date. Although his final years were difficult health wise, we have many humorous, memorable, and cherished moments. We wish him peace and to those who knew him, have a toast of your favourite beverage to a life well lived.

Cheers/Skål
