The family wishes to announce the peaceful passing of their mother on Sunday Jan 2nd, at the Timmins Extendicare. Predeceased by her husband George Third (Nov 5th, 1954), her parents John & Laura Anderson, her sister (late Irene Robertson and husband John of New Liskeard, her sister-in-law (late Betty Hembruff and husband Floyd) of Matheson and by her best friend Herb Hatton.
Loving mother of Phyllis (late Robert (bunny) Delaurier, Carol Third (dear friend Oliver Laurila), Robert (late Wendy) Third, Lynda & Denis Lajeunesse and Barry & Gwen Third of Thunder Bay, Ontario. Edna also leaves behind seven grandchildren: Karen Chisholm, Gail Delaurier-Pratt, Glenn & Ian Lajeunesse, Greg Third, Ben Third and Amy Third. Eight great-grandchildren, Cole, Drew, Ryan, Kylie, Rihanna, Blake, Jordyn and Trevor.
Special and dear cousin Ivan and Marilyn Delaurier of Matheson, Hatton family and extended family and friends.
Mom was very active with the Legion Branch #287 Ladies Auxiliary, as well as volunteering at the Food Bank, Red Cross and UCW. She loved playing cribbage the last couple of years with her son Bob, especially when she would skunk him in the game.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Big Water Unit at Extendicare and the Timmins and District Hospital. They would also like to express their gratitude for the exceptional level of care from long-time family doctor Dr. Lynne Schwertfeger, Dr. Ethier & Dr. Manon Ethier and staff, Dr. DiTullio, Dr. Vaithilingam; as well as for the guidance from Lesly-Ann Humphrey.
As per mom’s wishes cremation has taken place and a service will be held in the spring.
