November 21st, 1930 – September 13th, 2021
The family announces with great sadness Eero/Dad’s passing at 90 years of age at the Timmins and District Hospital on Monday September 13th, 2021.
Dad was born in Hearst, Ontario to Rauha and Frederick Mord on November 21st, 1930. Dad was a jack of all trades and a hardworking man. Name it and he could do it from crane/heavy equipment operator as well as working for Hydro, City of Timmins and having his own construction company, he was even part of building Hwy 144. When dad built something it was made to last as he excelled in construction and there are many reminders in the community of dad’s work. Dad enjoyed fishing, the outdoors and gardening. Playing crib and having a cup (or more) of coffee with Pulla was a Finnish tradition he enjoyed. Dad’s memory will be kept alive by his son Brian (Kathy) Mord his daughters Jean (Gordon) Brougham of Victoria, BC and Judy Mord. Grandfather of Rita Luxton (Randy) of Beaver Creek, Yukon, Keith (Shantelle) Brougham, Brent (Anna) Brougham and Laura Brougham (Chris Gale) all of Victoria, B.C., Derek Brougham of Ottawa, ON, and Ashley Mord of Timmins and great-grandfather to Aidelyn and Ronan. Eero is survived by the mother of his children Rita Mord. He was predeceased by his granddaughters Sarah Mord and Grace Mord.
Remembrance donations to the Timmins and District Hospital Hospice Unit, or the Alzheimer’s Society will be gratefully acknowledged by the family.
The family of Eero wishes to extend their sincere thanks to Timmins and District ER staff and Chrissy, Anu and Mandy with the hospice unit for their care and compassion in dad’s care as he passed peacefully with respect, care and dignity. Thank you again for your compassion as it will be remembered always.
A private family service will be held.
