She will be deeply missed by her beloved husband of 65 years George Niskanen and by her loving children Liisa (Henry) Tasanko, Sandra (Larry) Scott, Taina, Martti, Paul and Marilea (Tim). Cherished grandmother of Erika (Kirby P), Adam (Rebecca), Christopher (Tania), Kirby (Andrew), Justin, Ryan, Grant (Emilie) and by her great-grandchildren Raija, Katja, Elli, Gavin, Elliot, Oliver, Gwenyth, Calla, and Kinsley. Ellen leaves behind her sister Rose Cadeau.
She was predeceased by her parents Violet & Fredrick Prince of Matheson, and by her siblings Earl, Lila, Ben, Leanna, Hannah, Louis and Irvin.
Ellen was a country girl who loved farm life. With her trusty red dog at her heels, she was happily milking her cows which turned into the dairy farm it is today. Also, she enjoyed her gardens, picking berries and working in the fields on her John Deere tractor bailing hay. She loved watching her kids and grandchildren growing up and attending their hockey games and the activities they were involved with.
A big thank you to our VON nurse Sharon, Taylor, and Kirkland. To our many psw’s we had over the past 15 years, Bettyanne, Merideth, Kirkland, Stella, Katrina, Sally, Maria, and many others, we could not have kept our mom at home without them.
If desired, in memoriam donations can be made to the Matheson Food Bank.
A private family service will be held in the spring.
