 Evans Elva Madelaine (née Degraw)

The family announces with sorrow the peaceful passing of Elva at home on June 24th, 2020 at the age of 92.  Beloved wife of Alphonse Fitzgerald.  Loving step-mother of Celina (Ralph) Berlingeri of Timmins, Jim (Amanda) Fitzgerald of Kitchener, and will be fondly remembered by Betty (John) Draves of Matheson.

She will be sorely missed by Dakota, MacKenzie, Tanika, Faith, Fox and by Courtney (Andrew), Kelsey (Ryan) and Jenna (Taylor) and families.  She leaves behind her niece Rosemary Sabo (Zoly), Tony, Laurie and Julie and families.

Elva was predeceased by her first husband Sergeant John Evans (1978), her son David Evans (1959), her step-son Alphonse Fitzgerald Jr. (2003) her mother Marybelle Degraw (1987), and by her sister Olive Rose (1987).

Some of her many accomplishments were her businesses as owner/operator of Canadian Heritage Beauty Salon, Office Overflow and the Airport Hotel.  Some of the awards Elva has received are the Ontario Good Citizenship Medal, Thomson Galley Award 1999, Paul Harris Rotary Award and 1 of 100 Most Influential Citizens.  Elva served on many committees throughout the community including president of Timmins & District Horticultural Society, Porcupine Hairdressers Association, and Timmins Downtown BIA as well as a member of the Timmins Housing Authority, and St. Mary's Hospital Board.

Donations to the Alzheimer's Society, Timmins & District Hospital or the charity of your choice.  All will be gratefully acknowledged by the family.

A family graveside service will be held at the Timmins Memorial Cemetery on Monday June 29th, 2020 at 2:00 P.M.  A Celebration of Life for Elva will be held at a later date which will be announced.
