Frances MacMillan Obituary

 1951-2024 

The family announces with great sorrow the passing of Frances MacMillan on April 4th, 2024, surrounded by family at the Timmins and District Hospital in her 73rd year.  

Born in South Porcupine to the late Fred and Margaret Booth and beloved wife of 55 years to Donald MacMillan. Loving mother of Frank MacMillan (Kerry) and Kathy (Chris) Ivey. Cherished grandmother of Kenzie (Eric) Saarela and Sawyer MacMillan, and great-grandmother of Emery Saarela. Daughter in-law of the late Donald and Maxine MacMillan.  

Siblings: Arnold Demrah (Carolyn), Fred Booth, late Marjorie (Mervyn) Buffalo, late Art Booth (late Joy), late Neil Booth (late Karen), Kolleen (Don) Caron, Vivian (Bill) Lewis, Cynthia (Rick) Howard, Carol Madden, late Victor Booth (Diane), Peter (Cathy) Booth, Helen Booth (Sandra Chalk), and Marion Booth.

In-laws: Ann (late Ray) Turcotte, late Margaret Cooper-Fortier (Moe), Doug MacMillan, Glen MacMillan, Shirley MacMillan, Eunice MacMillan, Bill MacMillan (Lise), late Bob MacMillan,  Sandra (Ken) Elliott, Stirling (Gwen) MacMillan, Barbara (Dan) Julian, Carl MacMillan (Kathy Larush), Pauline Roy, Pat MacMillan, Jack Allen, and the late Jack Cooper.

She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. 

The family would like to thank Dr. Richard Kvas and the Timmins Family Health Team, along with many doctors, nurses, and staff at the Timmins District Hospital for their compassionate care during her times of need. In addition, they would like to thank close friend Jim Lutz who is always standing by to help. 

Frances is remembered for her generosity in caring for her family, friends, and neighbors (the elderly in particular), her creativity which shone through in her home and garden, and her quick wit which brought smiles to our faces. 

Donations to the Timmins and District Hospital Foundation or the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be greatly acknowledged by the family. 

A celebration of life will be held this summer.
