Babando, Giuditta Jean (Gallai) 

 1921-2023

Peacefully in her 103rd year, Giuditta Jean (née Gallai) Babando passed away at home with her daughters by her side. Born To Eduardo (D1937) and Emilia (née Miotti) Gallai (D1975) on New Year’s Day 1921 at the Dome Mine Property, she lived her life in the house her father built on Golden Avenue in South Porcupine. She married Peter Babando (D1998) in 1948 and together they raised two daughters, DonnaMaria (Donald) Pellizzari and GiannaMaria. Jean was one of the longest-serving employees of Tisdale Township and the City of Timmins (46 Years); she loved working, and after retirement she volunteered at the St. Joseph School Library. She was devout in her faith, served on Parish Council and as a bookkeeper for many years at St. Joachim Parish, attending Mass regularly through her 100th birthday. 

A devoted daughter, her family was always her focus in service and in prayer; she loved them fiercely. Nonni is lovingly remembered by her grandsons, Christopher (Megan), Andrew (Leanne), and Peter (Renée) Pellizzari. BizNonna is missed by her great-grandchildren Drayden, Cole, Miller, Rocco, and step-grandson Karter. 

She likewise treasured her brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and godchildren; she cultivated and enjoyed deep, lifelong friendships.  

We are grateful to the compassionate doctors, nurses, and caregivers who attended to our mother with dignity and kindness, especially our Community Paramedic Nat Robitaille and our much-loved soul sister Sue McGaghran. In lieu of flowers, donations to a charity of your choice will be gratefully appreciated by the family. 

A Visitation will take place on Sunday July 2nd, 2023, at Stinson Funeral Home from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. 

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 am on Monday July 3rd, 2023, at St. Joachim’s Parish, South Porcupine. Interment will follow at the Timmins Memorial Cemetery.
