Nicholls, James (Jim) Gordon

1940-2020

After a brief stay in Timmins District Hospital, Jim passed away in Hospice care on May 17, 2020. He leaves behind his wife Diane (née Lessard) after 55 years of marriage. He is survived by his loving daughter Elizabeth (Beth) Bob Bell of Picton, Ontario. He is also survived by one brother Bill Nicholls (Doris), of MacGregor, Manitoba, brothers in law Gordon (Muriel) Lessard of Orangeville, Ontario, and Kenn (Sandra) Lessard of Timmins. He was predeceased by his parents Harry and Vera Nicholls and his brother Jack Nicholls. Jim was loved by many nieces and nephews and their children.

Jim was a well-respected instructor in the Applied Technology Department at Northern College for 30 years until his retirement in 1997, Jim was the first instructor hired at the Porcupine Campus in 1967. He served as a trustee and chairman on the District School Board Ontario North East. He was a 50-year member of the Porcupine Masonic Lodge #506 along with being an active member of St. Paul’s Anglican Church.

Services to follow at a future date. Donations in his memory can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Timmins and District Hospital.
