SANTANEN, Leona (née Bell)

Leona Lydia Santanen was born in 1963 in South Porcupine and passed away on February 17, 2020, at the Timmins & District Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. Leona looked forward to being with her Lord and Saviour. Leona was a graduate of RMSS in South Porcupine. She enjoyed her team of co-workers at the Travelway Inn, Sudbury as well as her devoted friends from the New Sudbury Pentecostal Church. She greatly enjoyed her many friendships in Timmins and Sudbury and elsewhere, both recent and from years past. Leona was well known for her love of her children and grand-daughter, as well as her love of animals.

She is survived by her 3 beloved daughters Kirstie, Kayla and Madison, their father Larry Santanen, and her precious grand-daughter Peyton.

She is predeceased by her father Leonard and her brother Tim.  She is survived by her mother Aune Bell, her sisters Deborah Pell, AnnaMae Bleakley (Steve), Kathleen Wixson (Mark), Ruth Bell (Gilles), as well as her 2 brothers David Bell (Vivian) and Chris Bell. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews as well as aunts and uncles.

Thank you, everyone, for your kind messages of love and support, your visits, cards, gifts, and prayers. Special thanks to Timmins & District Hospital. We wanted Leona to know how loved and appreciated she was, and that wish was wonderfully fulfilled.

Funeral will be at Stinson’s Funeral Home in South Porcupine on Saturday, Feb 22, at 11:00 am with visitation Friday, Feb 21 from 6-8 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the SPCA or the Little Ray's Nature Centre.
