With mixed emotions, the family announces that Lorna Montague (née Shelswell) transitioned peacefully on Wednesday December 13, 2023. Lorna was born on August 7, 1934 in Timmins and lived the majority of her adult life in the Shillington/Matheson area. Lorna is survived by her children Joanne Curnew, Karren (James) Wright, Joseph (Louise) Montague, and Darlene (Darrell) Head, Ruby (Lou) Bougie, 16 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents Andrew and Lillian Shelswell, her siblings Ted McKinnon, Betty Campbell, Shirley Tremblay, Doris Montague, her husband of 48 years Joseph Montague Sr. and her two daughters Brenda Richardson and Barbara Mallard.
Lorna enjoyed life, she loved playing bingo and she was passionate about the festivities and decorations during the Christmas season.
The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff in the Pearl Lake section at Extendicare in Timmins. The love and dignity with which they treated Lorna was greatly appreciated and we will forever be thankful for them and their care.
No funeral or memorial service is immediately planned. A family gathering will take place in the spring.
Donations in memory of Lorna can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society and will be gratefully acknowledged by the family.
