GOSSELIN, Marcel JP

1941-2022

It is with great sorrow that the family announces the passing of Marcel JP Gosselin, loving husband to Marie-Rose Gosselin (Plante) of 59 years, at Timmins and District Hospital on March 3, 2022. Predeceased by his parents, Joseph & Annette (Guindon), his siblings Roger (Gertrude), Gilles (Martha), Hugette (Yves Boissonnault), and grandson Alex.  Survived by his siblings Monique (Armand Roy), Nicole Lamothe and Maurice Gosselin. His children Rene (Nancy), Alain (Leslie) and Armand (Angel), his grand-children Eric, Brianne, Aaron, Adam, Kenan, Jaimie, Devin and 9 great-grandchildren. Marcel worked as a miner for most of his life, moving from mining town to mining town earlier in his career and then settling down in Timmins in 1980. He loved the outdoors, especially camping (spending whole summers at various local campgrounds with his family and enjoying the camaraderie with friends) and fishing with his best buddies Bert and J.R. Music was a big part of his life and for over 50 years sang and played guitar at special events, bars and private parties. In 2016 he was inducted into the Great Northern Opry's hall of fame in Sault Ste. Marie. He also enjoyed playing music at local senior's residences with his wife Marie who provided backing vocals and keyboard accompaniment. They were known to the locals as MnM. He was an Honorary Lifetime Member of the Knights of Columbus where he dedicated his time to charity. He enjoyed spending his time as a horticulturist playing in the dirt, growing his favourite items in the garden, waking up early in the mornings and spending time watering his plants. His backyard BBQs and fish fries will be greatly missed. Above all else, he adored and treasured his family. Nothing made him more content than spending time with his sons and their families. Everyone in his presence felt his love. His bear hugs, jokes, and quips will be greatly missed. By request from Marie-Rose and sons, cremation has taken place.
