CASHABEC, Michael (Mickey)
“If you ever needed a penny or old fashioned shoehorn, this man had your back.” Michael (Mickey) Cashabec was 88 years young when he went on to the “Happy Hunting Ground” to be with his brothers and sisters.
Survived by his loving wife of 64 years Claudette (nee Duciaume), his son Mark (Donna) Cashabec, his daughter Chantel Cashabec (Roger McManus). His three favorite grandchildren, Sarah (Tyler) Mateev, Jason Cashabec, Chloe Belair (Steven Laurin), his great-granddaughter Amber Mateev, and his sister Florence Richter (late Walter), sister in law Marilyn Cashubec (late Sylvester), sister in law Hattie Lauzon (Leo), Leo Duciaume (Estelle), Larry Duciaume (Emilie) and many nieces nephews and great-nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Ann (nee Laginski) and John Cashabec, siblings Raymond (late Marilyn), John Joe (late Mary), Ambrose (late Dorothy), Eddy, Kenny, Anna Mae Golka (late Phil) and Agnes Karita (late George).
In his early years, he worked as a Special Constable with the Pamour Mines security police until he retired in 1996. He also worked part-time for Brinks Canada. Upon his retirement, he went on to be a full-time Grandfather and on-demand babysitter of his three grandchildren, whom he adored. For many years Mickey was also a long-standing member of the Loyal Order of the Moose and St. Johns Ambulance.
As per Mickey's wishes cremation has taken place and there will not be a visitation. A Celebration of Life in his honor will be held in the summer, to be posted at a later date. Remembrance donations on his behalf will be accepted at Spruce Hill Lodge.
