Michael Cashabec Obituary

 

In Loving Memory of

CASHABEC, Michael (Mickey)

 “If you ever needed a penny or old fashioned shoehorn, this man had your back.” Michael (Mickey) Cashabec was 88 years young when he went on to the “Happy Hunting Ground” to be with his brothers and sisters.

 He was the beloved husband of 64 years to the late Claudette (nee Duciaume) who passed on June 12th, 2022, Loving father of Mark (Donna)  and Chantel Cashabec (Roger McManus). His three favorite grandchildren, Sarah Cashabec, Jason Cashabec, Chloe Belair (Steven Laurin), his great-grandchildren Amber and Axel, and by his sister Florence Richter (late Walter), sister in law Marilyn Cashubec (late Sylvester), brother in law Leo Lauzon, Leo Duciaume (Estelle), sister in law Emilie Duciaume, and many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great- nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Ann (nee Laginski) and John Cashabec, siblings Raymond (late Marilyn), John Joe (late Mary), Ambrose (late Dorothy), Eddy, Kenny, Anna Mae Golka (late Phil) and Agnes Karita (late George), sister in law Hattie Lauzon and brother in law Larry Duciaume.

 In his early years, he worked as a Special Constable with the Pamour Mines security police until he retired in 1996. He also worked part-time for Brinks Canada.  Upon his retirement, he went on to be a full-time Grandfather and on-demand babysitter of his three grandchildren, whom he adored. For many years Mickey was also a long-standing member of the Loyal Order of the Moose and St. Johns Ambulance.

Remembrance donations in Mickey’s memory may be made to the Timmins and District Humane Society

A Celebration of Life will be held for Michael along with a Funeral Service for his loving wife Claudette (née Duciaume) on Wednesday June 15th, 2022 at Stinson Funeral Home at 11:00 am. The family will receive friends prior to the Celebration from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Stinson Funeral Home.  A luncheon will follow after the service at the Airport Hotel, 151 Bruce Avenue, South Porcupine.
