MURPHY, Patrick James
Pat Murphy, 80, of South Porcupine, passed away suddenly on March 14.
Pat was born to Mel and Rose Murphy on June 25, 1943, in South Porcupine. He was a beloved brother to Linda (Wayne), Dan (Madeleine), Christine (Bob), Paul (Carla), Donna (Steve) and Mary Ann (Mike) (both deceased). He was a loving husband to Bonnie until her passing in 2014 and is survived by his three sons Mark (Deb), Dave (Kim) and Ryan (Carrie) and six grandchildren. A handyman as well as a family man to the core, Pat leaves behind a legacy of knowledge, laughter and love.
With much of his youth spent at the Dome and an unwavering desire to stay in the north, he had an uncanny ability of running into acquaintances wherever he travelled. Relationships aside, his keen sense of humour and outgoing nature made him a quick friend to all who crossed his path whether it be through work, at the hockey rink, on the baseball field or in line at the grocery store. He could connect immediately with anyone and thrived on conversation with friends and strangers alike.
Pat loved to build, repair, and renovate. He devoted many hours to building anything from decks to garages with his family and friends. Many laughs and lessons were shared through each project with all involved walking away more knowledgeable, lighter in spirit, and often with a funny story to tell.
Pat’s 34-year career with Kidd Creek culminated as a copper refining process consultant. This sent him to locations all over the globe where he would spread his joy for life. Kindness and generosity were woven into the fabric of Pat’s personality, and he was always willing to offer his time (and a joke) to anyone who might benefit.
A visitation will be held at Stinson’s Funeral Home on Friday, March 22 between 2 and 5pm. The family encourages all to participate in a subsequent gathering at the Airport Hotel at 5:30 p.m.
No flowers, please. If so inclined, consider a donation to a charity of your choice instead.
The family would like to extend a warm thank you to Randy and Cathy Beard, Rick Mahon and Joe Stanlake for their assistance last week. Finally, to Dr. Vaithilingam, thank you for decades of caring for our family.
Arrangements entrusted to Stinson Funeral Home, 100 Bruce Avenue, South Porcupine, ON, P0N1H0 (705)235-2900 www.stinsonfuneralhome.net
