The family announces with sorrow the passing of Pauline (Polly) on Monday August 9th, 2021, at the Timmins and District Hospital at the age of 81.  Beloved wife of the late Arnold Marttala. Loving mother of Arnold Jr., Ken (late Michèle), Julie (Marc) Rondeau. Cherished grandmother of Melissa (Colin), Melanie (Corey), Meaghan, Mackenzie, Marc Jr and great-grandmother of Keenan. She will be sadly missed by her sister June Deacon, and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Pauline was predeceased by her parents Herbert and Mary Curnow, by her brother Herbert Jr. (late Vivian), her brother-in-law Murray Deacon and nephew Donald Deacon.
Pauline started working with the Timmins Board of Education and eventually became secretary at Golden Avenue Public School where she remained for most of her career.
Pauline was a member of St. Paul’s Anglican Church singing in the choir from a very young age. She loved to sing but her most favourite time was spending the summer at her cottage at Ivanhoe Lake with her husband and family.
Thank you to all the nurses who looked after our mother especially Vera, Johnna, Chrissy and Anu from Hospice who took such good care of our mother through her last days. We cannot forget to thank Dr. DiTullio and Dr. Parr for their care and compassion as well.
Donations to the Timmins and District Hospital Hospice Unit will be gratefully acknowledged by the family.
Cremation has taken place as per Pauline’s wishes and a private family memorial will be held.
