Tonkin, Robert James

Robert James Tonkin, aged 44 of Iroquois Falls, ON passed away suddenly on Wednesday February 16th, 2022 following a motor vehicle accident.

Rob was born on December 15th, 1977 to Timothy and Barbara Tonkin in Timmins, Ontario. After graduating from Timmins High and Vocational School in 1995 he went on to study auto mechanics at Northern College. After receiving his diploma he began his 23 year career at James Toyota and went on to obtain his Red Seal Certification as an expert mechanic. Rob loved life and always lived it to the fullest. He was loved by all who were lucky enough to have known him.

Rob was predeceased by his paternal grandparents Peter & Dawn Tonkin, his maternal grandparents Bruce & Helen Vanstone, uncle and paternal aunt Steve & Jane Edward, paternal uncle Chris Tonkin and by his second cousin Kingsley Edward.

Rob is survived by his adoring parents Timothy & Barbara Tonkin, his loving brother Matthew (Michelle) Tonkin,  aunt Alison (Monette), aunt Kathy Tonkin, aunt Kathy (Larry) Howe,  aunt Sheila Vanstone,  aunt Heather (Victor) Roskey, aunt Susan (Rod) Vanstone, cousins Steve (Pam) Tonkin, Ruth Tonkin, Mary (Dennis) Hull, Allan Tonkin, Marty (Amanda David) Monette, Peter (Francine Dicaire) Monette, Alana Monette, Lee (Julie) Edward, Billy (Stephanie) Edward, Jennifer Edward as well as many more western cousins and second cousins.

Rob is survived by his wife Joanne Tonkin, stepson Steve Taiffer, and stepdaughter Cassady Drouin. Left to mourn his passing Rob’s loving partner Ashley Tremblay (son Jackson) of Iroquois Falls.

There will be no visitation. There will be a service of remembrance on Tuesday March 1st, 2022 at 11:00 am at the Covenant United, corner of Pine and Eight Avenue.
