Vera Demers Obituary

In Loving Memory of

Vera Demers

1922-2023

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Vera Demers, nee (Possigian) on September 27th, in her 102nd year. Mom was born in Brantford, Ontario, one of five children, a first generation Canadian of Armenian heritage.  Mom married our father Armand Demers in 1944, while he was stationed nearby. They moved to Timmins after the war and had four children, Diane Caron (Paul), Denise Rogers, Michael, and Elizabeth Liboiron (Garry). Mom loved her Demers family and was embraced by all.  Mom worked for years at Sally Shops as an assistant manager.  Mom loved to travel, cook, read, play cards and mostly visit with her family.  Mom was an avid sports fan. She followed the Toronto Blue Jays and The Toronto Maple Leafs.  She was a wonderful cook; her rice pilaf was a must have at family gatherings. Mom was beloved by so many and will be sorely missed and mourned by her 4 children, 8 grandchildren, Leeann, Jason, Vanessa, Emilia, Stephan, Melissa, Amy and Eric, 10 great grandchildren and 3 great, great grandchildren.   Mom will also be missed by her nephews and nieces in Michigan.  Thank you to LaSalle Retirement home for the care they gave mom and the doctors and nurses at Timmins Hospital.  Special thanks to Dr. Cohen for his excellent care and kindness through the years.  A celebration of life will be held at a later date.  Arrangements entrusted to Stinson Funeral Home, 100 Bruce Avenue, South Porcupine, ON, P0N1H0 (705)235-2900 www.stinsonfuneralhome.net
